A strange coda to the death of Amy Winehouse is the news that the singer was apparently planning to adopt a 10-year-old girl from St Lucia. Winehouse had apparently begun the process and was going through the stages of taking full charge of the girl’s life.
Dannika Augustine from the small Caribbean island reportedly got to know Amy Winehouse after the singer spent time there in recent years. And Winehouse was apparently set to visit again in the next few weeks, with one of her priorities being to spend time with Dannika Augustine and continue the adoption process.
Whether Winehouse would have gone through with the adoption process is unclear, but it was apparently something she spoke about. And she was reportedly even considering a move to St Lucia so that she could look after Dannika Augustine and keep the child close to her family. But saying you want to adopt someone and actually going through with it are two different things, so we’ll never know if it would have happened for sure.
