Family members found a Californian man alive several days after his car plunged into a ravine. David Lavau, 67, had built a makeshift camp and eaten leaves while waiting to be rescued.
The circumstances surrounding Lavau’s accident are unclear. Another car was found nearby, its driver dead at the wheel. Family members mounted their search after they were unable to locate Lavau, who is believed to have spent up to six days trapped.
David Lavau suffered multiple fractures to his ribs, plus a dislocated shoulder, a broken arm, and fractures in his back. However, his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. Upon being found, he reportedly asked for chocolate milk.
