Major League star Wilson Ramos, kidnapped earlier this week in his home country of Venezuela, has been rescued. Five alleged abductors were arrested as police swooped to rescue Ramos and engaged in a brief gun battle with the kidnappers.
The 24-year-old had apparently been being held in a remote mountainous area since he was kidnapped at gunpoint from outside his mother’s house in Valencia, a town in the north of Venezuela. At least one of the kidnappers is said to be from Colombia.
Since being released, Ramos has undergone medical checks and has been cleared to go back home. It’s believed that his abductors were planning to demand cash in exchange for his safe return.
