Thusa Kamaleswaran, the 5-year-old fighting for her life after gang shooting

5-year-old Thusa Kamaleswaran is still fighting for her life, 24 hours after being caught in the crossfire of a gang shooting in Brixton, London. The UK’s youngest ever shooting victim, Thusa was hit in the chest while at a shop with her family. The bullet is said to have missed her heart by inches, but she has now had three operations and remains in a critical condition. Another person in the shop, 35-year-old Roshan Selvakumar, is also in hospital after being hit in the face.

It’s believed that three gang members on bicycles arrived at the shop, with one of them firing inside indiscriminately. It’s unclear who the intended target was, but it pretty obviously wasn’t Thusa. Police are still trying to identify the shooter, with reports suggesting that he (or she?) could be as young as 15.
