London riots

Turkish shopkeepers stand guard in Dalston #londonriots

For anyone out there who still thinks the London riots are caused by ‘immigrants’, consider this: in Dalston tonight, violence flared but was quickly extinguished thanks to the efforts of a group of Turkish shopkeepers who stood guard outside their businesses.

Shopkeepers have told The Guardian how they chased youths away after their shops came under attack. And it sounds like they were more effective than the police, who have apparently been largely absent from Dalston this evening, with events elsewhere in London drawing their attention.

Efforts to turn the London riots into a racial event have largely failed. The rioters are from all ethnic groups and are motivated not by ethnic divisions but by a variety of other factors: anger; social exclusion; desperation; sadism; boredom; and stupidity. As the Turkish shopkeepers of Dalston demonstrate, in many cases it’s immigrant communities who are most protective of their communities.

    • As an Aussie, I am ashamed of you, MK…this has nothing to do with racism ~ it’s all about brainless idiots out looting because they’re bored – pure mob mentality…The fact that it’s spread to Liverpool/Birmingham/Bristol as well shows how brainless mobs work…
Good on the business owners for standing up for themselves ~ I’ll be ordering some Turkish for dinner tonight…
MK ~ pull your head in…

    • Why they cannot be called racist? They are white too. Even in your comment you show what you actually are. 🙂
The thing is; a Turk would just protect his property and not go further in action. You dude probably would not, and hunt after “blacks”, because you hate everything what is not same like you..

    • MK you are an idiot! Did you write this here so you can get some attention you little idiot. You are miles behind the times. Did you know racism killed your education industry after the indian student bashings.

    • Why would standing guard would be against the law? No one could described protecting your property as a legal offence!! Leave it alone why on earth people are soooo blind to see there are loads of white Brits involved in these riots as well as other nationalities. It is so easy to blame it on immigrants or some racial groups. Oh yes, common law sucks and so does political correctness…People are left to stand their grounds and defend themselves as police has been useless so far !

    • The Turks are white too and many of them who live in England are British. Turks did it because they are brave enough to protect themselves and others.

  2. OK. My original comments are taking an age to be moderated. MK in Australia, if you truly have the audacity to comment on what is happening in london this evening from OZ, then goddamn you. I’m a White British Male and i’m watching this happening in real time. The Turks of Dalston have not only protected their businesses but they have also protected their community from which i am a part of. I only wish the people of Croyden, Camden, Kentish Town and now various communities of Liverpool, Manchester and Brum had community minded local “minorities”. If you are indeed commenting from OZ then I urge you to re think you opinions on something you clearly are not part of. So i say again, If i read you original comment correctly, F Off and die you red neck prick!!!!

  3. get a life mate, whats racism got to do with it when the british police is standing by watching, also watch the videos, there are plenty of “white” looters amongst the mob too. shut up and go on the streets to protect your s***t like the turks did.

  5. I’m an Australian living in Dalston and last night I saw firsthand the Turkish community taking charge in our area and protecting our area! It was nothing short of phenomenal. I’m so ashamed of you MK in Australia. How ignorant are you?

  6. Well Done the people of Dalston! We should focus on this because they have acted as a community, having a common goal and have succeeded. I think it is very often the break down of communities that causes many negative issues. These stupid pathetic idiots who are looting and rioting probably feel a ‘sense of community’ with their other idiot buddies. There really is no one to blame but the looters themselves. They’ve chosen to behave this way regardless of their back grounds.

  10. Happens here in Bodrum, Turkey. If a thief is caught snatching a handbag. Local Turks will jump on him and beat him up.They don’t wait for the police. They protect their community and tourists

  11. Well done to those Turkish guys. Shame the ” “British” men are too busy filming it on their mobiles to defend the community.

Those Turkish chaps make me proud to be British.

    Well done to them.

  13. I am an Australian back living in Australia but I owned a house just off Dalston Kingsland (Belgrade Rd)and I am so proud of these guys, probably many whom I knew. If I was still there, I would like to think I would be out there joining them to defend our neighbourhood. Well done.

  15. Thankyou Turkish guys for protecting our area when the police were not there! Ignore the idiots above. You stopped it spreading further afield. Heartfelt thanks.

  16. I’m a turk and proud of it. My words to those people who blame us as racist ; we ‘ve never had seperated toilets for white and black people as you did in 60s and 70s. . and never had black slaves. and again, if the police cannot protect our life and goods, we’ll do it !!!!!
