Wikileaks accuses Guardian over leaked encryption key [UPDATED]

The row between Wikileaks and The Guardian was ratcheted up a notch on Wednesday evening, as the whistle-blowing site alleged that an unnamed Guardian journalist “disclosed top secret decryption passwords to the entire, unredacted, WikiLeaks Cablegate archive”.

There has been a row in recent days over the possible accidental release of the encryption key to the unredacted ersion of the cables at the centre of Cablegate. Wikileaks has been hinting that one of its former media partners was responsbile. It has now made the allegation that it was someone from The Guardian.

The Guardian has denied the claims by Wikileaks, insisting that it did nothing wrong and that it is not responsible for the leaking of the unredacted file and the encryption key. But regardless of that issue, it would seem that the relationship between the two organisations has well and truly broken down.
