Barack Obama leads tributes after Cuban dissident Laura Pollan’s death

US President Barack Obama has led tributes to Cuban dissident Laura Pollan, who has died in Havana at the age of 63.

Laura Pollan formed and led a prominent Cuban dissident group called the Ladies in White, who are credited with pressuring the government into releasing scores of political prisoners over the past decade. Their non-violent protest marches are a rare example of open political protest in the island nation.

The death of Laura Pollan has sparked mourning not only among dissidents in Cuba, but also in the United States, where a large Cuban population waits keenly for any sign of the Castro regime crumbling.

  1. It will make the Cuban people around the Country to sympathizer with the president Obama if he do something to overrun the Cuba dictatorship of the Castro family .
