Cain and his campaign manager, Mark Block, have both alleged in the past 24 hours that Perry’s team helped push the story that Politico broke at the weekend. Block appeared in a TV interview on Wednesday and called on the Perry team to apologise, but reps from Perry’s camp have flatly denied the allegations.
Cain and his team also criticised Politico for running the story, saying that there’s no proof and that the whole thing is a mess of innuendo and lies. Their combative talk came as there were reports that a third woman is now making allegations of ‘inappropriate’ comments. The Cain camp will undoubtedly be all too aware that such allegations can sink a campaign regardless of whether or not they’re true.
