Lady Gaga launches anti-bullying Born This Way Foundation

Lady Gaga and her mother Cynthia Germanotta have teamed up to launch an anti-bullying organisation, the Born This Way Foundation. The website for the foundation states that it will be launching fully in 2012.

The foundation will work with the likes of the John D. & Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the California Endowment and the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University to further the cause of youth empowerment and to spread anti-bullying messages.

Lady Gaga has long associated herself with the anti-bullying message, having spoken to Barack Obama about the issue and was particularly outspoken about the suicide of Jamey Rodemeyer, a teen who was bulled about his sexuality. A few days after Rodemeyer’s death, Lady Gaga dedicated a performance of the song Hair to him.
