The title for the 23rd official James Bond film is set to be announced in London today, with early rumours suggesting that the sequel to Quantum of Solace might be called Skyfall.
There are few details about the potential plot for Skyfall. There seems to be no referece to that phrase in any of the Ian Fleming James Bond stories, in which case the upcoming film might be something of a departure from tradition: both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace were based on Fleming material.
The cast for the film will also be announced. Alongside regulars Daniel Craig and Judi Dench, it has been confirmed that Javier Bardem will be playing a prominent role. Naomi Harris has also indicated that she has been auditioning for the film, which will be released in November 2012 and will mark the 50th anniversary of the first ‘proper’ Bond film, Dr No. Sam Mendes is directing.
