Ten months after being shot in the head in Arizona, Gabrielle Giffords has released a new book detailing her slow recovery. And despite suffering lingering effects from her injuries, Giffords says she plans to return to Congress.
Gabby: A Story of Courage and Hope is written by Giffords’ husband Mark Kelly, but contains Giffords’ own words regarding her recovery from the shooting. She discusses the way in which she struggled to cope after learning about the six other people who died on the same day, such as 9-year-old Christina Taylor Green.
Giffords still has impaired vision as a result of her injuries, but she says she plans to get back to Congress as soon as possible. This news will dispel rumours that she was considering retiring from political life altogether.
