More than 10 people are feared dead, with others fighting for their lives and suffering life-changing injuries, after a huge car crash on the M5 in Somerset. 26 vehicles were involved in the accident and more than 30 people are believed to have been hurt in total.
The cause of the crash is unclear, but bad weather is believed to have played a part. There is thick fog in the area. Witnesses report explosions, possibly as a result of half a dozen vehicles catching on fire. A number of articulated lorries were involved in the crash.
There is no confirmation of the number of dead, but local media reports are suggesting that it could be as many as 10 or 11. The road is expected to be closed for a day as emergency crews work to establish what exactly caused such a horrific crash.
