A group of Detroit Lions fans have started a petition calling on the club to cancel a planned halftime show by rock band Nickelback. The fans want the club to think again about booking Nickelback for their Thanksgiving game this year.
Detroit is a city with a rich musical heritage, so it’s not hard to understand why some fans might be a little unhappy that a Canadian band have been booked for a game that will be widely televised. At the time of writing, more than 35,000 fans have signed and the petition is around two thirds towards its goal of 50,000 signatures.
Nickelback have been around since the mid-90’s and are one of the most successful non-US bans in America over the past decade. Their planned appearance at the Detroit Lions game is expected to coincide with the release of their new album Here and Now, which is due out later this month.
