Eight people have died at least five have been injued after gunmen opened fire at a volleyball match in Culiacan, Mexico. Some of the injured are believed to be in a critical condition.
It’s believed that the gunmen arrived with two men who pointed at specific individuals to shoot. This has raised suspicions that the shooting was not random and was most likely in some way tied to the ongoing violence surrounding Mexico’s drug gangs. Culiacan is a stronghold of the notorious Sinaloa group.
Players and spectators alike were targeted. Police say that no-one has so far claimed responsibility. The ages of the victims have not been released.
