2012 Presidential Campaign, Ron Paul

Ron Paul wins GOP Illinois straw poll

Ron Paul has won a Republican Illinois straw poll, taking 52% of a vote to determine voters’ unofficial preference ahead of the state’s primary on March 20th next year.

With more than 3,000 votes cast, the Illinois straw poll is arguably one of the most revealing regarding voters’ intentions. There has been a rash of straw polls in recent months, many of them won by either Ron Paul or Herman Cain, but in some cases those polls had only a couple of hundred votes cast.

The Illinois poll ran for a week starting in late October. Any Illinois voter could take part with a $5 contribution to the state party. Ron Paul won both the online and total vote, while Mitt Romney took victory in the in-person voting.

  1. Just read the book “Creature From Jekyll Island: A Second Look At The Federal Reserve”, and you’ll see why the people that have actually listened to Ron Paul are so passionate about him. So few people will take the time to really listen to him. They just find it easier to write him off without giving him an honest chance.
