Red Arrows pilot seriously injured in ground accident at RAF Scampton

A Red Arrows pilot has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after an accident at RAF Scampton. Details of the accident have not been revealed, but it’s believed that the pilot was on the ground rather than in the air. It’s not immediately clear if he was in his jet at the time.

Ambulances attended the scene just after 11am this morning. The pilot has been taken to Lincoln County Hospital and the RAF says it will released more details when they are available. The Red Arrows have completed their flying season for the year and were at RAF Scampton for winter training.

The incident comes just a few months after a Red Arrows pilot, Jon Egging, was killed after performing in a display near Bournemouth. Egging died when his jet crashed for reasons that have not yet been confirmed.
