US soldier William Colton Millay accused of attempted espionage

A serving US soldier has been accused of attempted espionage. William Colton Millay, originally from Kentucky but recently stationed in Alaska, allegedly passed information on to a source he believed was an agent of another country.

Army officials have released few details of the alleged incident. It’s not clear how Millay was identified, or which country was supposed to benefit. It’s believed that the information in question was not classified and that there was ultimately no loss of data.

Millay has reportedly served in both Iraq and South Korea in the past. It has not been revealed when the alleged espionage is suspected of taking place. Millay has reportedly said that he is innocent. The case is said by officials to have no connection whatsoever to the case of Bradley Manning.
