Obituary: rap legend Heavy D, aka Dwight Arrington Myers, dies aged 44

Dwight Arrington Myers, aka influential 90s rapper Heavy D, has died at the age of 44. Medics were reportedly called to his Beverly Hills home on Tuesday morning, but the star died shortly after arriving at a nearby hospital.

During his career, Heavy D enjoyed hits such as ‘Now That We Found Love’, and he wrote and performed the theme song for the popular show ‘In Living Color’. As an actor, he appeared in films such as ‘Life’. Less than a month ago, he performed at a Michael Jackson tribute concert in Wales with La Toya Jackson.

The circumstances of Heavy D’s death are not immediately clear but it’s reported that there are no signs of foul play. An autopsy is scheduled to be carried out, and his home is being searched for any clues as to what happened. He was apparently awake and talking when the medical team first reached him.
