James Murdoch faces a second appearance today before the parliamentary committee investigation allegations of phone hacking. Murdoch’s appearance starts at 11am and is expected to be a make or break chance for the potential heir to the Murdoch empire to show that he has control of the situation.
Murdoch has two challenges today. First, he has to fight back against questions about his earlier evidence given to the committee. Second, he has to show that he is the right man to lead News International into the future. He will be aware that as well as the MPs, there will be plenty of other people watching him, not least the shareholders backing his company.
It’s likely that there will be no bombshells and no banana skins today. Murdoch will likely get through the session intact, with neither side scoring any real hits. Labour MP Tom Watson has already tweeted that he’s ready to get started after a late night apparently spent playing Portal 2!
