Washington Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos has reportedly been kidnapped in his home country of Venezuela, where he was working with his winter league team the Aragua Tigers. There is no word so far as to who has kidnapped him.
Ramos was apparently taken by four armed men outside his mother’s house in Valencia, in the north of the country. No ransom has been demanded so far, and there has been no word from his kidnappers since they drove the player away in a 4×4 vehicle.
The 24-year-old has just finished his rookie season with the Washington Nationals and was planning to play around a dozen games with the Aragua Tigers over the winter season. There are fears that a large ransom will be demanded and that, even if the ransom is paid, the result could be to encourage further kidnappings.
