Five people have died after a helicopter crash in Maui, Hawaii. The dead are believed to be four tourists and the helicopter’s pilot. The cause of the crash isn’t clear, but the helicopter is believed to have been only around a year old.
The EC-130 helicopter was taking the tourists – two men and two women, including a pair of newlyweds – on a trip over West Maui and the neighboring island of Molokai when it crashed into a mountainside near an elementary school. The crash caused a small fire, which didn’t spread.
The names of the victims haven’t been released as authorities seek to notify their families first. It’s believed that the tourists were from Pennsylvania and Ontario, Canada.
