A helicopter carrying Mexican Secretary of the Interior Francisco Blake Mora has crashed. There’s no word as to any survivors, but the accident happened in the past hour in Central Mexico.
Emergency crews have reached the scene and Mora has been rushed to hospital. As Secretary of the Interior, Francisco Blake Mora’s work includes dealing with the massive drug gang problem that plagues much of the country.
In office since July 2010, the 45-year-old is considered something of a rising star in Mexican politics and has been mentioned as a possible successor to President Felipe Calderon. Mora’s background is in law. It’s not clear what caused the helicopter crash or how serious Mora’s injuries might be.
