Obituary: Turkish actor Istemi Betil dies aged 68

Istemi Betil, a popular Turkish actor and voice over artist best known for his role in Valley of the Wolves, has died at the age of 68.

Betil’s acting career began in the 70s and he worked almost exclusively in his native Turkey. By the late 90s he was working mostly in television, and in 2003 he took on arguably his biggest career role, as Laz Ziya in Valley of the Wolves (Kurtlar Vadisi), starring in three series.

He slowed down somewhat after that, making only a handful of appearances in a number of popular TV shows.
