A man has died in a car crash on the same road where his son was killed four hours earlier. Sumil Sambhi, 48, was killed in a head-on collision on Interstate 8 in eastern San Diego County, after reportedly driving the wrong way along the road. His death is reportedly being investigated as a possible suicide.
Sambhi’s 16-year-old son, who has not been named publicly, was killed earlier the same day when the truck his mother was driving allegedly suffered a suspected flat tyre and crashed. The boy was reportedly thrown from the vehicle and died instantly.
Sumil Sambhi’s death was apparently not far from the spot where his son died. He was reportedly distraught over his son’s death. A man and his own 19-year-old son, who were in the vehicle struck by Sambhi, were airlifted to hospital with injuries that are thought to be serious but not life-threatening.
