Black Sabbath have confirmed that they are reuniting for a new studio album and a world tour in 2012. The original line-up of Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward appeared at Hollywood’s Whisky A Go Go to make the announcement on Friday.
Not since 1978’s Never Say Die! have the Birmingham band’s original members come up with a full new studio album. Formed in the late 60s as Earth, Black Sabbath (as they quickly became known) have had a somewhat tumultuous history. Osbourne left in 1979, returning in the late 90s for a period.
With so many old bands reforming at the moment, there had been speculation for a while that Black Sabbath would be the latest to get back together. But the band’s fans insist that this won’t be just any old reunion.
