Solly Tyibilika, a former South African rugby player, has been shot dead in a bar. The circumstances of the shooting, which occurred on the outskirts of Cape Town, are not yet clear. He was 32.
Solly Tyibilika made his international debut for the Springboks against Scotland in 2004. He played a further seven tests before the end of 2006, at which point his international career came to an end.
Prior to playing for his country, Solly Tyibilika had begun his professional career with Griquas in 2001 before moving to Johannesburg’s Lions. In 2008 he moved to Border in his native Eastern Cape, but by 2011 he was playing club rugby for Cape Town’s Hamiltons team.
