NBA fans in America face the prospect of losing an entire season of their favourite sport, with talks between players and team owners having reportedly broken down to such an extent that lengthy legal action looks to be the only action on the horizon.
NBA Commissioner David Stern has been pushing for a new deal over the past week, but it seems that the players are unhappy with what’s on offer. The National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) is allegedly planning to pursue legal action against the league over the 137-day (so far) lockout.
The details of negotiations are complex but it seems that players were unhappy with not getting a greater share of the money drawn into one of the world’s most successful and profitable sports leagues. While some people are holding out hope that the league could be salvaged, others suggest that the only question now is whether the next season will go ahead.
