Facebook has pretty much won its war on spam, having apparently fixed the problem that was allowing images of penises and sex acts to flood the social network earlier this week. The company told the BBC it was the victim of a spam attack.
Apparently Facebook has already identified the person behind the spam attack and, to the surprise of many, it was apparently nothing to do with Anonymous. The motive for the spamming is unclear, but seeing as there were no apparent malicious elements, it seems to have been done purely for kicks.
Most, though perhaps not all, of the offending images are now removed. To make sure you’re totally secure, go to Account Settings > Apps and delete any Apps that you don’t recognise. Also change your password. Or you could just quit Facebook altogether…
