Two teachers and two other staff members have been injured after a student launched an attack with a samurai sword. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
The 18-year-old student, who has not been named, apparently turned up at the school in a wealthy Athens suburb with a 32-inch, Japanese-style blade. The teachers, along with a security guard and the school’s deputy director, tackled him.
No motive has been indicated for the attack so far. Witnesses claimed that the attacker had “lost his mind”, while others have speculated that the student might have been struggling at school.
