An Ohio woman has been accused over the death of her disabled 14-year-old daughter, who died in March. Makayla Norman died from nutritional and medical neglect complicated by her cerebral palsy, and her mother Angela Norman has now allegedly been accused of involuntary manslaughter.
As well as Angela Norman, a nurse has also been accused, while two other nurses have been accused of failing to report what was happening to the girl. A county prosecutor has suggested that if one of the four had taken more time to care for Makayla Norman, the girl would have survived.
Makayla Norman died shortly after she was rushed to hospital. She allegedly had a number of signs of neglect, including bed sores. She weighted only 28 pounds when she died. The teen was confined to her home and was supposed to be assisted by a nurse six days a week.
