Longtime Syracuse basketball coach Bernie Fine has insisted that molestation allegations against him are “patently false”, and he has been supported by a host of current and former players who have claimed that Fine is innocent.
Fine is reportedly on administrative leave while the allegations are investigated. Syracuse Chancellor Nancy Cantor has said that the school has a duty to look into any such allegations. According to ESPN, the allegations are said to have been made by two former ball boys.
The allegations against Fine come as Penn State is in the middle of its own dramas. Longtime coach Joe Paterno recently left the team following allegations that abuse by an assistant had gone unresolved for many years. Paterno himself, who had been with the team for more than half a century, was accused of no wrongdoing himself.
