Obituary: Seattle Mariners baseball star Greg Halman stabbed to death in Rotterdam

Greg Halman, an outfield player for the Seattle Mariners baseball team, has been stabbed to death in a street in Rotterdam in the Netherlands. The 24-year-old died on Monday and his brother Jason has allegedly been accused of involvement.

Born in Haarlem in the Netherlands, Halman helped the country win the 2007 European Baseball Championship. He came from a baseball-playing family, with both his father and brother also playing the game. His sister Naomi Halman is a professional basketball player.

Greg Halman was signed by the Seattle Mariners in 2004. In the most recent season, he batted .230 with two home runs and six RBI as a backup outfielder. In his spare time, he reportedly ran coaching sessions for kids in Europe.
