Pregnant Jennifer Fox suffers miscarriage after being pepper-sprayed at Occupy Seattle

A pregnant woman who claims she was allegedly kicked and pepper-sprayed by police at Occupy Seattle has reportedly suffered a miscarriage. Jennifer Fox, 19, was initially taken to hospital after the incident last week, and suffered the miscarriage a few days later.

A photo of Fox being rushed to an ambulance after the incident is online (click through to the second image). She alleges that a police officer hit her in the stomach with her foot, that another officer pushed a bike into the crowd, which hit her again, and that two officers pepper-sprayed her. It’s not clear whether the miscarriage has been definitely linked to these alleged incidents.

The news of the miscarriage has understandably caused outrage, as concern mounts about police tactics against peaceful protesters. Some, however, have questioned whether Fox was wrong to go to the protest if she was pregnant. Perhaps pregnant women should stay away from America’s police, and just sit at home with their mouths shut?
