The Wales football manager Gary Speed has been found dead at his home after an apparent suicide. The 42-year-old was apparently found hanged, and police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
The former Leeds, Everton, Newcastle and Bolton midfielder was discovered dead this morning at his home in Aldford Road, Huntington. Police were called at around 7am and upon arrival discovered the manager’s body.
Gary Speed played in England’s top flight from 1988 to 2010, during which time he also played for Wales 85 times, and subsequently embarked upon a career in management, first with Sheffield United and then as the boss of the Welsh national team.
