A prominent Rwandan journalist who had been living as a political refugee in Uganda has been shot dead in a Kampala bar. Charles Ingabire was the editor of Inyenyeri News, an online publication know for its criticism of Rwandan President Paul Kagame.
Ingabire was apparently drinking with a friend at the bar near Makerere University when he was gunned down. An autopsy revealed two bullet wounds. Police in Uganda are trying to work out his movements in the hours before he died.
A number of Paul Kagame’s political opponents have been attacked or killed in recent years, but the government denies any responsibility. Nevertheless, users of social media sides have been quick to make allegations of official Rwandan involvement in the killing of Charles Ingabire.
