Detroit police are searching for a 2-year-old girl whose father says she was taken in a carjacking. Bianca Jones was reportedly buckled into her seat when a man with a gun forced her father D’Andre Lane from his car and drove off on Friday morning. The car was quickly recovered, but there was no sign of the child.
Police have released a sketch of the man involved in the carjacking and a possible accomplice. A reward of more than $15,000 is on offer for information that leads to the recovery of the child, after a businessman contributed to the fund. Police have been searching vacant houses in the area in the hope of finding a lead.
The girl’s father says that the carjacking occurred on John R Street just north of East Grand Boulevard, Detroit, at around 9:20am on Friday. His 2004 silver Mercury Grand Marquis was discovered about 10 minutes later on Beaubien between Euclid and Philadelphia. Unconfirmed reports claim that Lane allegedly failed a lie detector test.
