Five children buried in North Carolina after alleged Mary Ann Holder shooting

Five children have been buried in North Carolina after a woman allegedly went on a shooting rampage. Mary Ann Holder, 36, allegedly shot her children, some others, her lover and finally herself in the incident back in November.

A collective funeral was held for the five children, aged between 8 and 17. The alleged victims were:

  • Holder’s sons Robert Dylan Smith, 17, and Zachary Smith, 14.
  • Her niece and nephew  Richard Brian Suttles, 17, and Hannaleigh Suttles, 8.
  • Robert’s girlfriend Makayla Leigh Woods, 15.

She also allegedly shot a man named Randall Lamb, with whom she had allegedly been involved in a relationship. He was wounded in the shoulder but recovered and has since been released from hospital.

The funeral was packed, with people having to stand outside once the church was full. Some of the children survived for a number of days, leading to hopes that they would be able to recover and reveal something about what had happened. Sadly, they died and the Pleasant Garden, North Carolina community is now struggling to deal with the tragedy.
