US Air Force allegedly dumped ashes of 274 soldiers in landfill

The US Air Force allegedly dumped the ashes of 274 dead soldiers in a landfill in Virginia, before eventually banning the practice three years ago. The revelations come just weeks after it was initially revealed that landfills were allegedly once used to dispose of remains.

The practice is said to have allegedly been limited to fragments and body parts that could not be identified. Nevertheless, there is controversy over the idea that the bodies of US soldiers could be treated in such a manner. Some family members have spoken of their shock at the news.

The use of landfills was allegedly never part of official procedure. The Washington Post alleges that the practice went on between 2004 and 2008. Such remains are now buried at sea.
