2012 Presidential Campaign

Will Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum be the only GOP candidates at Donald Trump’s Iowa debate?

Donald Trump’s upcoming Iowa debate could be a little on the quiet side as only two Republican candidates – Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum – appear to be attending. The rest have reportedly confirmed that they will not be showing up.

Jon Huntsman and Ron Paul were the first to announce that they would not be taking part in the debate. The debate, due for December 27th, now looks set to feature only Gingrich – who has somehow wormed his way into a leading position – and the largely forgotten Santorum.

The debate looks set to go ahead regardless, and could at least provide an interesting opportunity for the participating candidates to get a lot more airtime since they won’t be competing with all the others.
