A famous deli in London’s West End has secured support from some unlikely stars of the theatre world, following news that the business could be shut down to make way for a chain restaurant.
Gaby’s Deli has been in situ for near five decades and has become a favourite of many West End stars. But the deli, which is on Charing Cross Road, is under threat of closure because its landlords apparently want to sell the property.
The likes of Simon Cowell, Henry Goodman and Mat Ricardo are taking part in the campaign, which will include impromptu performances. Whether they, and a Save Gaby’s Deli Facebook page, can have any impact remains to be seen.
