Madonna Badger survives fire that kills three children, parents

Advertising executive Madonna Badger has survived a huge fire at her Connecticut home, but five others perished as the blaze spread. Her three daughters – one aged 10, two aged 7 – died along with her parents, who were visiting.

The cause of the fire is not clear. Neighbours reportedly heard screaming in the early hours and saw flames engulfing the home in Stamford, Connecticut. Madonna Badger and a friend were able to escape, but the others could not be saved.

By Sunday evening, the roof of the charred house had largely collapsed. Fire crews are waiting for structural checks before they can go into the building and search for any clues as to what caused the fire.
