Teenager dies on Scafell Pike

A teenage climber has died while climbing Scafell Pike, England’s highest peak. The 19-year-old’s body was discovered on Saturday afternoon, after he had earlier become separated from his climbing partner in snowy conditions.

The exact circumstances of the death are unclear, although there is speculation that the climber died in a fall. The climber’s name has not been released, but more information is expected to be made public once his family have been informed.

At 978m, Scafell Pike is considered to be a challenging climb. It’s located in the Lake District National Park in Cumbria, having been donated to the National Trust shortly after the First World War in memory of local soldiers who had been killed.
